Last Weekend Recap

 

I’m a guru:

Apparently when I am right, I am right. And when I am wrong, I am very wrong. In terms of college football in nailed my couple of semi lock picks with Stanford and LSU covering (though LSU wasn’t covering for most of the game). I also pretty much correctly predicted the Bama game but that was easy because Bama is just way better than everybody else and are too well coached to even have a close game in a 12 game schedule. I also nailed the FSU/Miami game which was much close then the spread as I thought it would be.  Read more...

Redskins Preseason Game 1 Recap

So I am pretty much going to sound like the laziest bum ever here because not only did I take a nap and forget to write the preview for the Skins first preseason game but I also only watched about 30 mins of the game. I wanted to get some hot wings for the Skins first action of the season but when I went out to get them it was traffic everywhere and it caused me to miss RG3′s first 2 possessions so I pretty much cried. However apparently I didn’t really miss that much considering other than an Evan Royster fumble that the Bills converted into a FG, there really wasn’t any other action. I managed to watch a couple of defensive possessions (when the starters were in) and one RG3 possession but as soon as Rex Grossman came in and is first pass hit the hands of the defensive back, I had to turn the channel.  Read more...

Big Day for Beltway Sports Fans

Today is a very big and exciting day for Beltway sports fans as not only are our two local NFL teams teeing off their preseason games tonight, but the Orioles have also called up their #2 prospect. In somewhat shocking news the O’s called up Bowie SS Manny Machado today and he will most likely start in tonight’s series opener against the Royals. This was super unexpected because Machado wasn’t even doing that great in Bowie (hitting like .260) and after most of their recent prospects have disappointed in the majors, it was thought that they would take their time and let Manny mature as much as possible in the minors but I guess how many times do the O’s compete for the playoffs (once in 15 years apparently).  Read more...

Osi Umenyiora Trash Talking RG3

Anytime you were a really good and hyped player in college, you are almost always going to meet some resistance once you reach the pros because you really haven’t accomplished anything in their league yet. RG3 met his first bit of verbal resistance on Wednesday when Giants defensive linemen Osi Umonyiora talked some trash on a radio show about Griffin saying:

“Who is this RG3 guy you guys keep talking about?” Umenyiora said. “You talking about Bob Griffin? You guys are giving him a cool nickname already and everything. When he does anything in the NFL we’re gonna call him RG3. Right now he’s Bob Griffin.”  Read more...

Redskins Name RG3 Official Starter

Yesterday the Redskins made it official that our #2 pick in the draft was and is going to the starting Quarterback on September 9th when we open up the season against the Jonathon Vilma less New Orleans Saints. Shanahan’s official statement was “He’s the starter. Period.”. So I would say that is he is pretty emphatic about RG3 starting for the team considering he is usually fairly guarded about his responses with the media. Shanahan had been non-committal since the draft about RG3 being named starter but after the rookie mini camp this weekend where RG3 apparently looked impressive (as impressive as somebody can look in a rookie minicamp), he decided it was time to make the announcement.  Read more...
