Phelps Barely Qualifies for 400m IM Final

 After Michael Phelps won his heat by .07 seconds, everybody expected him to easily make it into the finals. That .07 second ended up making the difference between Phelps being in the final, and Phelps not being in the final. One reason for Phelps’ slow time may have been that since he was in a slow heat, he wasn’t pushed as much.

Phelps is the two-time defending Olympic gold medal holder in this event. The final will be at 2:30 pm today. Here are the top three scores for the preliminary round of this event
