Wizards Opening Night Thoughts

Well the Wizards finally tipped off their season last night and while the night lost it’s luster a little bit with Wall and Nene out, there was still plenty to take notice of. Here are my thoughts from last night:

  • Bradley Beal wasn’t the best rookie SG on the floor last night.

Wizards Season Preview

I have procrastinated so much that I am now writing the Wizards season preview 20 minutes before their season begins. Nonetheless, this team is very different from last season. Gone are the knuckleheads of Blatche/Young/McGee and in are the anti-knuckleheads of Okafor/Nene/Ariza. I’m actually not sure you could have a bigger transformation if you tried. You go from a team of a bunch of gunners who are goof balls that play very little defense and very small basketball IQ to a bunch of tough/smart/defensive veterans who aren’t the most offensively talented in the world. To be honest while whole “changing the culture” thing is nice and definitely needed, it most likely won’t change the Wizards postseason hopes a whole lot in the next couple of years. As for this season here is what to watch for:

Wizards at Cavaliers

Washington Wizards at Cleveland Cavalier

7:00 PM

TV: CSN+

Spread: Wizards by 3

It might be difficult for some people to watch tis game because of the fact that it is on CSN+ (pretty sure Caps game will be on CSN), but it is probably for the best anyways. I say this because the woeful Wizards are playing the equally woeful Cavaliers. Neither team is very good but at least the Cavs are playing for something and I mean that in a bad way. The Wizards fortunately clinched the #2 lottery spot thanks to the Hornets win last night (post about this will becoming later) so they have nothing to play for, this will be the first time that I actually root for the Wizards to win in a while (this year). The Cavs on the other hand are battling with a myriad of teams for that #3 spot now that the Hornets have caught fire late.
