Starters – Stephen Strasburg takes the mound for the Nationals tonight in an attempt to hit double digit wins for the first time in his young career. Strasbeast has struggled a bit lately by his standards, with a 3.76 era in his last 10 starts, but with some extra rest and a big ballpark to pitch in, he should return to dominance tonight. The Marlins will counter with Ricky Nolasco, who like Strasburg is mired in a bit of a slump himself, with an era near 5 in his last 10. Starters – Jordan Zimmermann will start his second straight game for the Nationals tonight in hopes of getting his team off to a strong start to the second half. Zimmermann has quietly been one of the best pitchers in baseball and maybe the most consistant. He’s only had two outings all year where he failed to give the Nationals a quality start and he currently has the best era of all the Nats starters. Josh Johnson has been considered one of the best pitchers in the game when healthy for years now, but this season he has seemed much less dominating. So far in 2012 he is far worse than his career averages in era, opponents batting average, WHIP, and K/9. However, Johnson has been better recently, going 5-2 with a 2.97 era in his last 10 starts.
