2-time Cy Young winner Johan Santana threw the first no-hitter in Mets franchise history against the defending champion Cardinals hard hitting lineup tonight. After missing all of the 2011 with injury issues Santana has returned to the Cy Young form of 5 years ago, going 2-2 with a 2.75 era going into Friday nights game. It took Santana 134 pitches, 19 more than his 115 pitch limit according to manager Terry Collins. He walked 5 and struck 8, including David Freese for the final out of the game. With this game, Santana shows that even at 33 years old, he is once again one of the best pitchers in baseball and has yet another acheivement to add to his already great career.
