This is a couple of weeks old but I still had to put it up here because it is one of the funniest GIF’s I have seen in a while. This is right after Mark Reynolds hit a home run (either his 1st or 2nd of the season) and as you can see Showalter tried to get the high-five and came up empty. Obviously the way Reynolds has been hitting he’s used to just running into the dugout and getting away from the coaches as quickly as possible so really this is just routine for him. Once again my apologies for not getting this up earlier.

Orioles at Blue Jays Preview: April 13

Where: Toronto, Canada
When: 7:07
The Starters: Tommy Hunter vs. Brandon Morrow
The Orioles are facing the Blue Jays today in their first road series. The Orioles are 3-3 so far this season. They swept the Twins in the first series then got swept by the Yankees. Tommy Hunter will be making his second start this year after a stellar performance in his first start. Hunter went for 7 innings and didn’t even allow a run. That same stat-line happened with Brandon Morrow, except for he didn’t get the win. Both teams need this one to give them confidence that they might be able to keep up with the rest of the AL East. I will take the O’s in this one 4-2, and Mark Reynolds will finally hit a home run.
The Life of an Orioles Fan
I am literally writing this post minutes after the Orioles just finished getting swept by the Yankees so it may come off as a reactionary post (its pretty much the definition of one) but I also think it is true. Even though we are only 6 games into this young season I feel like this season has already been a microcosm of every O’s season in the past 14 years and it’s what makes being an Orioles fan so frustrating. We start off by sweeping the Twins in which we dominated the series and left very little doubt that we were the better team. Are the Twins good? Not by a long shot, but they are an MLB team and sweeping any MLB team is a good feat for any team. Not only did we sweep the Twins, but our pitching staff put together an amazing series as our starters combined for a 1.00 era, it really could not have gone any better. So the “fans” (and when I say fans I mean the fair weather fans because the real fans no better) get all excited and all of a sudden the Orioles are cool again and everybody wants to go to the games because the O’s are finally back!
Orioles Spring Training Notes
The Orioles training camp has started and while nothing of news has really happened yet, I did find a couple of notes of interest that were written by Orioles Beat Reporter Roch Kubatko. Here is the link to his post: http://www.masnsports.com/school_of_roch/2012/02/more-positive-results-for-britton.html
Here are some of the key parts of the article:
- “Zach Britton said his flat-ground session went “really well” today, and he remains encouraged by the progress he’s making after being bothered again by inflammation in his left shoulder. Britton moved back to 100 feet today while making 60-70 throws. He also simulated his delivery on another 10-15 throws, also on flat ground. Britton said he’ll do the same thing Tuesday in his first back-to-back days of throwing.”
