Gausman Makes Pro Debut For Aberdeen

The Orioles 2012 1st round pick made his pro debut yesterday for the Aberdeen Iron Birds and was very good in his short outing. He was only allowed to pitch 3 innings but he didn’t give up a hit and didn’t allow a walk or a run in those 3 innings of work. He also had 2 k’s to go with his hitless ball. Definitely a good start for the kid is really all I can say about this. Not much to read into here as he is playing at fairly lowly Aberdeen but nonetheless it’s still fairly impressive and certainly better than doing poorly. I’d assume that now Gausman is in the organization he pretty much automatically becomes our 3rd ranked prospect behind Bundy and Machado but ahead of Schoop. As O’s fans knows, after Schoop it drops pretty dramatically but adding Gausman in there just solidifies our minor league system a little more. Apparently he is likely going to be a very fast mover through our system and while he will probably spend the rest of his 2012 days in Aberdeen, he could be an Oriole by 2014. Can’t wait to see him progress.
