How I Accidentally Won My Brother Chris $500 in a March Madness Pool

Anybody who read my post yesterday already knows that I screwed up copying Chris’s bracket once by accidentally writing down Long Beach State in the 2nd round instead of the Louisville pick that he actually had. It almost cost him since Kentucky won last night, he ended up in a tie for first in our neighborhood pool and he could have lost over 300 bucks if he lost the tiebreaker (he didn’t). What I didn’t say yesterday was that I actually made two mistakes copying Chris’ bracket and while the 2nd mistake was much bigger than the first it actually ended up winning him the pool and the first place prize of $517. Here is the story:

Handicapping: Big 12 and ACC Tourney Matchups

(11) Baylor vs (3) Kansas

7:30 PM ET

Spread: Kansas by 6.5

Kansas has dominated the Big 12 Tourney for the past 3 years and they come in riding a 9 game win streak.  The Jayhawks took both meetings between these teams this season.  That means that if you’re like me, and believe that it is hard to beat a team three times in one season this is your game.  For what it’s worth, Kansas is 1-8 ATS in games this season where the total is 140-149.5.

Pick: Baylor +6.5 (1 unit)
