Wizards Opening Night Thoughts

Well the Wizards finally tipped off their season last night and while the night lost it’s luster a little bit with Wall and Nene out, there was still plenty to take notice of. Here are my thoughts from last night:

  • Bradley Beal wasn’t the best rookie SG on the floor last night.

John Wall Injures Left Knee, Out 8 Weeks

Today news broke that John Wall injured his knee and will be out for 2 months. His exact return date is scheduled for November 23rd which would mean he would miss 10 regular season games but that’s more of a tentative date but expect him to miss around 10 as long as they correctly diagnosed the injury. Apparently it is some sort of stress injury in his left patella (whatever that means) that he got by working out but the Wizards are being kind of vague it seems like to me.

New Orleans Wins Draft Lottery, Wizards Third

The most anxiety inducing ten minutes of the NBA season is now over, the NBA-owned New Orleans Hornets have won the top choice in the draft and will be selecting Kentucky’s Anthony Davis in June. Color me shocked, conspiracies abound. Anyway, here is Chad Ford’s new updated Mock Draft. The Wizards had the second best odds in the draft but fell to the third spot. Honestly, this is almost insignificant and might end up being a good thing for the team. Allow me to venture through tonight’s implications:

Wizards at Cavaliers

Washington Wizards at Cleveland Cavalier

7:00 PM

TV: CSN+

Spread: Wizards by 3

It might be difficult for some people to watch tis game because of the fact that it is on CSN+ (pretty sure Caps game will be on CSN), but it is probably for the best anyways. I say this because the woeful Wizards are playing the equally woeful Cavaliers. Neither team is very good but at least the Cavs are playing for something and I mean that in a bad way. The Wizards fortunately clinched the #2 lottery spot thanks to the Hornets win last night (post about this will becoming later) so they have nothing to play for, this will be the first time that I actually root for the Wizards to win in a while (this year). The Cavs on the other hand are battling with a myriad of teams for that #3 spot now that the Hornets have caught fire late.

Wizards at Heat

Where: American Airlines Arena

When: 7:30

TV: CSN

The Big 3 will be hosting the Wizards tonight in south beach. Although, I wouldn’t expect to see much from the big 3 tonight, as they will probably be resting most of the game. In the last eight games Wade has played in only the four that have been against playoff opponents. Even without him, the Heat are hot right now and they are on a five game win streak. As for the Wizards, Nene will be expected to play tonight after he came back from his injury in the Wizards last game. Booker, on the other hand is not expected to play. Also, it was announced that Andray Blatche will miss the rest of the season for conditioning. I do not really understand how you miss the rest of the year for conditioning if he won’t ever play for us again, most likely. I think that the Heat will win tonight, despite resting their stars, 101-87.
