New Orleans Wins Draft Lottery, Wizards Third

The most anxiety inducing ten minutes of the NBA season is now over, the NBA-owned New Orleans Hornets have won the top choice in the draft and will be selecting Kentucky’s Anthony Davis in June. Color me shocked, conspiracies abound. Anyway, here is Chad Ford’s new updated Mock Draft. The Wizards had the second best odds in the draft but fell to the third spot. Wizards Draft Prospects 2.0

The NBA draft is only about a month away now and the draft lottery less than 2 weeks so I thought it was time to give my big board for the Wizards possible selections with whichever pick they end up receiving. I also had a dream last night that they Wizards were awarded the #3 pick at the draft lottery so it made me think of this again. We know now that their selection will range somewhere between 1 and 5 so there are only so many players that I think the Wizards should consider. Remember when I give these rankings they are my rankings in order of who I think the Wizards should draft because they have specific needs and fits. I might think that one player is slightly better or has a higher ceiling than another player but I still might have that other player ranked higher because I feel that they fit with the Wizards better or are a position of need for us. Final Four Predictions

For all of those who don’t know the final four games are tonight at 6 and 8:30 and they feature 2 pretty good matchups. The 6 oclock game features the #1 seeded Kentucky Wildcats against their instate rival in the #4 seeded Louisville Cardinals. For the later game the #2 seeded Ohio State Buckeyes are going to face the #2 seeded Kansas Jayhawks in what should be a matchup of pretty evenily ranked teams. Early Wizards Draft Prospects

The NBA draft isn’t until June 28th and I am well aware of that but after watching all of this NCAA tournament action I am fired up at seeing all of the talent that the Wizards will have to choose from in this upcoming draft. While it is too early to tell which players will stay and which will go, I am going to assume that all of these players will declare for the NBA draft before the April 29th deadline as they are almost sure-fire top ten picks. As for the Wizards selection is a little complicated because of the way the NBA does it with the lottery but right now we have the 2nd worst record in the league and only have a realistic possibility of having the 2nd or 3rd worst records in the league by seasons end (either us or the Hornets). That being said it is almost a guarantee that we will have a pick somewhere between 1 and 6. I think the Wizards selection will come down to these 7 players that I am about to outline for you, who they select will depend on who is available and what pick they end up getting. Eddie’s College Basketball Picks 2/26

Murray State came through for me last night eeking out the 69-64 victory over Tennesse Tech, while it was certainly a nail biter they still covered the 4 point spread for me to get me off to a 1-0 start

#16 Wisconsin Badgers at #8 Ohio State Buckeyes

Spread: Ohio State by 9.5

4:00 P.M. ET

I think Ohio State is a better team than Wisconsin but Wisconsin is coming off of a loss and they are a tough team that I think will be determined to win this game. They also play low-scoring defensive games so it is pretty tough to out score this team by 10. As long as the Badgers contain Jared Sullinger to a degree, I think they should cover.  Read more...
