So we had at least a little bit of a chink in the armor yesterday as Dylan Bundy gave up his first ever run as a part of the Orioles organization even though it wasn’t earned. According to orioleshangout.com this is how the run was scored: “With two outs, Dylan struck out the next batter on a nasty breaking ball that bounced right behind the plate. Gabriel Lino blocked the ball, but couldn’t locate it and the runner reached first safely. After a first pitch strike to the ensuing batter, Lino threw the ball over Dylan’s head and into centerfield. The runner on first took off and hustled his way towards third, resulting in having Glynn Davis throw the ball into the Shorebirds dugout.” Obviously this resulted in Davis scoring and Bundy giving up the run but I think it is pretty obvious that is anything but an earned run and is much more reminiscent of a little league play.
