Dylan Bundy Debuts at Bowie

IP:. 5.33

H:o 5 (3 Doubles, 2 Singles)

R:O 3

ER:)2

BB: 3

SO: 3

Pitches: 96 (56 Strikes, 40 Balls)

2012 ERA: 3.38 (Only at AA-Bowie)

Dylan Bundy made his debut at AA-Bowie last night as he moves through the Orioles minor league system. He pitched pretty well, only giving up 2 earned runs in 5 and 1/3 against his toughest competition yet. After the Machado call-up, one of the biggest discussions has been whether or not Bundy will get called up to the O’s and possibly pitch out of the bullpen. Well apparently his innings limit is in the 120-130 area and he is around 100 now so if he made his projected few more starts at Bowie, its possible that he will still have some innings left that he could use in Baltimore. I doubt it will happen this season, but after the Machado call-up I really wouldn’t be shocked.

Bundy Dominates; Promotion Abrewing

After Dylan Bundy got off to such a hot start in Delmarva by throwing like 30 scoreless innings, he kind of cooled off at Frederick and at least came back to Earth a little bit. Apparently I am a fair weather Bundy fan because I stopped writing about his performances but after his recent string of good starts, I am back in business! Anyways, after starting somewhat slow with the Keys, Bundy has started to get comfortable and dominate again. Last night he had one of his best starts in his professional career as he threw 6.2 innings and gave up 2 hits, 2 walks, and 0 earned runs in that time. He also fanned 8. Usually Bundy is on a pretty strict 5 inning rule but lately he has been allowed to exceed that limit and he took advantage of that last night going a career high 6 2/3 innings.

Dylan Bundy Tracker: 3rd Start in Frederick

Dylan Bundy picked up another win for the Frederick Keys on Saturday night with a win over the Lynchburg something or others. Nobody really cares about that though because all that matters is how our young phenom did. According to stats and the reports Bundy pitched decently but some hitters got to him. He pitched 5 innings and gave up 4 hits, 2 ER, and a career high 3 walks. Obviously none of these stats are anything too worrisome its just good to see him getting challenged if you ask me, nobody expected him to be perfect throughout the minors. His ERA is up to 3.00 as a Key but that is perfectly fine for a 19-year-old kid.

Dylan Bundy Tracker: 2nd Start in Frederick Goes Well

Dylan Bundy made his 2nd start up in high-A with the Frederick Keys last night and from what I have heard and read he was pretty dominant. He went 5 innings and gave up 3 hits and 1 run with 7 strikeouts. From a couple of different perspectives that I read about from people who were at the game: apparently 2 of the hits that were allowed were infield hits that the SS botched to a degree. Obviously it was questionable because both were given a hit but from what I heard a major league SS would make those plays. He only had one hard hit ball against him which was a single right up the middle but other than that he was barely hit at all. His final pitch count was 62 pitches through 5 so thats pretty solid, he could have gone possibly a full game with that pitch count. He actually ended up getting the loss in the game even with only giving up 1 questionable run but obviously wins and losses don’t really matter for him at this level. I am just glad to see him at least facing competition where is getting challenged now as he can get used to having runners on base and be forced to throw some of his off-speed stuff some just to gain some more confidence at least. I was cool with him getting his feet wet at Delmarva but it will be interesting to watch him move up the ladder, though I would expect him to stay at Frederick probably for the same amount of time he stayed at Delmarva.

MLB Prospect Rankings Update: Bundy 1st; Machado 3rd

Every once in a while ESPN.com comes out with their updated rankings of each organization and the minor leagues as a whole. Because players are constantly moving in and out of the minors to the majors it is a very superfluous situation and therefore the rankings are always changing. Keith Law is the head of these rankings for ESPN and he has been doing this for years so I trust his rankings as much as anybodys but in his most updated version he has the Orioles phenom SP Dylan Bundy ranked 1st and SS Manny Machado ranked 3rd out of the entire minor league system.

Dylan Bundy Gets Well Deserved Promotion to Frederick Keys

19-year old phenom Dylan Bundy has officially pitched his last game with the Low-A Delmarva Shorebirds as it was announced Wednesday that he will be promoted to the High-A Frederick Keys. Bundy will end his time in the South Atlantic league without surrendering a single earned run in 8 starts (30 IP). The level of dominance he was able to display against professional hitters straight out of high school has been nothing short of astonishing and has gained him national notoriety just 11 months after being drafted 4th overall in the 2011 amateur player draft. His South Atlantic league foes batted .053 against him, recording just 5 hits (all singles) in 94 at bats, while striking out 40 times and drawing just 2 walks. He was so impressive that there was some speculation he may be promoted directly to the Double-A Bowie Baysox (joining his brother Bobby), but Orioles brass opted to bump him up just one level for now. Bundy will make his Frederick debut on Saturday night at Harry Grove Stadium against the Salem Red Sox.
