As the recruiting season for the 2012-2013 season comes to end, now would be a pretty good time to recap how the Terps Men’s Basketball recruiting class has come together. It is an even better time to have the discussion since the Terps just gained their 6th, and almost certainly final, commitment for the 2012 class yesterday evening when 6′ 3″ combo guard Sam Cassell Jr. (yes, the son of that Sam Cassell) agreed to join Mark Turgeon and his squad.
First to address this team’s tournament chances- Basically after their loss at Georgia Tech yesterday, they now have to win the ACC tournament to get in. If they had won yesterday, I could have possibly pictured a scenario where they won out but lost in the ACC championship and got in, but definitely not anymore. We have 2 games left (at UNC and home vs Virginia), both would have been great resume builders (especially UNC on the road), but that loss to GT was terrible and was the dagger to any possible at-large chances.
