2-time Cy Young winner Johan Santana threw the first no-hitter in Mets franchise history against the defending champion Cardinals hard hitting lineup tonight. After missing all of the 2011 with injury issues Santana has returned to the Cy Young form of 5 years ago, going 2-2 with a 2.75 era going into Friday nights game. It took Santana 134 pitches, 19 more than his 115 pitch limit according to manager Terry Collins. He walked 5 and struck 8, including David Freese for the final out of the game. With this game, Santana shows that even at 33 years old, he is once again one of the best pitchers in baseball and has yet another acheivement to add to his already great career.

Giancarlo Stanton Breaks Scoreboard With Monster Grand Slam
Giancarlo Stanton battles 93 year old Jamie Moyer to a full count before unloading a 438-foot grand slam off the left field scoreboard, breaking a panel and leaving the Marlin’s without a fully functioning scoreboard for the rest of the night. But i’m sure they didn’t care because Stanton’s Roy Hobbs-esk blast (his 9th of the year) gave Miami a 6-4 lead and eventually led to a Marlin’s win. Enjoy…

Stop, Drop, and Flop
Listen, I really like the movies. I can’t go a week without watching AT LEAST one movie. Before the end of April, (Academy Award season, come on people get with it) I watch every single movie within a reasonable award category. Every single movie that is or has a candidate for a substantial award is on my incoming list on NetFlix. My wife and I will go to the theaters every single day for weeks leading up to the actual awards show to make sure we are properly prepared for the show. I am most enamored with the awards given to individual actors and actresses. From leading roles to supporting roles, I am captivated by good performances and will call up any one in my family to describe the brilliance of such talent.
Ray Lewis Helps Michael Phelps Regain His Competitive Fire
None of us can relate to what it’s like to win 8 gold medals in one Olympics (He has 14 gold medals total) like Michael Phelps (cause no one else on Earth has done that) but we can all relate to his admiration of Baltimore Raven’s Linebacker Ray Lewis. Following the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing, Phelps told the Baltimore Sun that he was somewhat burned out and having some trouble getting motivated for the 2012 summer games in London. But since then he has got the chance to get to know the future hall of famer, hear his pep talks, and witness the passion he still has for his sport going into his 17th season. Being a Baltimore native, Phelps is a big Raven’s fan and speaks highly of charm city, saying; “Baltimore is my hometown, and it’s where I grew up. I’m always going to have a place there. I love Baltimore, I love being close to [where] the Ravens play.” He also added that he and Lewis are “good friends,” and that he loves to watch Ray play saying that watching him play “sends chills up my spine.” The fact that experiencing Ray’s passion up close reinvigorated Phelps desire in his sport shouldn’t be a surprise to Raven’s fans. I can say that even from my season ticket seats all the way up in section 552, seeing Ray down on the field gets me fired up, I can’t imagine what kind of effect he’d have face to face.
Jesse Smith’s Bracket
After years of watching lots of games, analyzing a bunch of statistics, listening to what every “expert,” thinks will happen, and having my bracket become toilet paper by the Sweet 16, I’ve decided to just go with my gut this year (famous last words). I didn’t pick my final game or final four teams and work backwards like I have in the past, I just picked one game at a time and I’ll hope for the best. Here’s what I came up with, please feel free to laugh at my expense…
Mock Draft 1.0 (pre-combine)
Closing in on two months until draft day, it’s about time to start mocking. With the exception of the first overall pick, anything can happen on Draft day which makes it one of the most exciting days in sports. In this first mock I’m going to familiarize you with the prospects and what each team is looking for position wise. Keep in mind that this is my best guess as of now, everything can (and probably will) change after the combine…
