Hello fellow beltway enthusiasts. My name is Daniel Swartz and I am excited for the opportunity to share some thoughts, opinions, and insights to the Beltway Sports Blog. I have lived within the beltway jurisdictions for most of my life. Therefore, I can share in the pain and triumph of those who have seen their sports team rise and fall. As always, feel free to share any opinions or ideas you have on my post. Agree or disagree, any input is always welcome.
I am a graduate of University of Maryland, College Park, Class of 2010, with a Degree in Operations Management. Having lived in either Howard, PG, or Montgomery County my entire life, and now working in DC, I have been exposed to all of the sports the DC Metro-Baltimore area has to offer, and have experienced a good majority of the pain here in the last two decades.
Hailing from Baltimore, MD by way of Elkridge I have been raised on a steady diet of Orioles, Ravens, and Maryland Terrapins. I will be providing you with sports handicapping information across the major sports, as a successful handicapper should know all sports. I can promise you my picks will be half gut-driven, half statistical anaIysis. I will also be giving fantasy baseball analysis for the upcoming season. This will most likely involve some commentary concerning my own fantasy team which I live and die with (usually die) every summer. Follow me @RulingClassBAL
I am a 22 year old recent graduate from the University of Maryland, College Park. I was born in Colorado but have long since dropped those sports allegiances and now root for the Ravens, Orioles, Capitals, Terps, and (when bearable) the Wizards. I will be focusing on covering the Ravens for this site but hope to contribute to all of the teams being covered, and even throw in some of my penetrating societal observations. I am not sure how I got lucky enough to cover the only successful team in the region, but for that, and for the creation of this site, I thank the almighty Edwin. I will do my best for you and the numerous readers.
Well, hello! My name is Rob. I am a graduate student at Towson University, working towards my masters in teaching. I follow all sports pretty closely but I concentrate on basketball. I’m a big time Wizards fan and NBA draft nerd. I expect well reasoned justification for opinions on basketball, because of this I tend to think most “experts” are idiots but they’d probably think the same of me. Most of my posts will be heavily data driven with nuance and context thrown in. Hopefully I will convince you why I’m right.
Growing up in the Baltimore-Washington D.C. area, I have spent years fruitlessly attempting to will my favorite teams to the success that has so alluded them. My favorite teams are the Wizards, Redskins, and more recently Nationals. In addition, I have supported the Maryland Terrapins for many years and am currently a Junior in the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. I have been asked by my brother Eddie, to be the main contributor on the Terps for this blog. I may add additional content on other areas of the sports world but this will be where I will be focusing the majority of my attention. I look forward to sharing my thoughts on my beloved Terrapins and would love to discuss issues either in the comment section of my posts or at my email comalley@umd.edu.
