Blue Jays at Orioles: Series Preview

Pat’s Prediction Record: 53-48

GAME 1

When: 7:05

The Starters: Zach Britton vs. Carlos Villanueva

The Orioles come back home after going on a 6 game road trip in which they won 3 of those games. For game one of this series, the Orioles have Zach Britton on the mound. Zach Britton pitched very well in his last start going 7 innings and not giving up a run against a very good Tigers lineup. Although, Britton’s ERA is terrible at 6.23, his record is at 2-1, which isn’t bad. Hopefully Britton will be able to pitch well tonight and improve on his record and ERA. As for the Blue Jays, they have Carlos Villanueva, I’m just going to call him Carlos because spelling out Villanueva every time would be a pain. Any way, Carlos’ ERA on the year is at 3.10 which includes his relief appearance’s and starts. He has made nine starts on the year and has appeared 22 times as a reliever. He has faced the Orioles once this year in a relief appearance that only lasted .2 innings while he didn’t allow a hit or run. I think that the Orioles will win 4-3.

GAME 2

When: 7:05

The Starters: TBA vs. Brandon Morrow

Although this would be Chen’s turn to pitch in the rotation, they are giving him a couple of extra days rest. They have not announced who will be starting in his place. It will most likely be the rookie Steve Johnson starting. As for the Blue Jays, they know who is starting for them, and it will be Brandon Morrow. Morrow is 7-4 with a 3.01 ERA on the year in 13 starts. This will be Morrow’s first start since going on the 60 day DL, and he will be limited to 85 pitches. In one start against the Orioles this year, Morrow went 6.1 innings and gave up 1 run. I think that the Oriole swill win this one 5-2.

GAME 3

When: 1:35

The Starters: Chris Tillman vs. Henderson Alvarez

For the final game of this three game set, the Oriole shave Chris Tillman on the mound. Tillman was pretty good in his last start, going 6.2 innings and giving up 3 earned runs to the Rangers in the Orioles 5-3 win. He was doing very well untill surrendering a two run home run in the seventh that ended his night. Tillman is 6-2 with a 3.71 ERA on the year and is one of the reasons why the Orioles are still in contention. As for the Blue Jays, they have Henderson Alvarez on the mound in this one. Alvarez is 7-11 with a 4.84 ERA this year and was terrible in his last start which was against the Rangers. His stats might sound familiar 2.2 innings 8 earned runs.  In one start against the Orioles this year he went 7 innings and gave up 2 runs. I think that the Orioles will win this one 7-4 and sweep the Jays.
