There was a ton of excitement when the O’s brought up Manny Machado yesterday but really nobody could have expected how quickly Machado would contribute to the big league club. After last night’s 2-4 performance where he roped a triple into right center field and we were all content with that but tonight he delivered a performance that left even this man speechless (only because I prefer to type). Manny hit 2 home runs tonight though, the first one going over the left field wall in the 5th (solo shot) and the 2nd coming one inning later which was a 3 run shot that really broke the game wide open. Manny received a well deserved standing O after his at-bat and came out to acknowledge the crowd with a curtain call if you will. In maybe just as crazy news, the same guy (some 15-year-old kid) caught both home run balls. I use caught lightly because apparently both balls bounced to him but that doesn’t diminish their worth to him so he’s a lucky kid. After putting up modest numbers in the minors, I’m not sure anybody expected this kid to come up and produce right away and while 2 games is obviously a tiny sample space, he is only adding to the growing excitement in charm city.
