Where: Camden Yards
Pat’s Prediction Record: 47-42
GAME 1
When: 7:05
The Starters: Chris Tillman vs. Jason Vargas
The Orioles come home to start a three game series against the Mariners. For the Orioles they have Chris Tillman on the mound, who was great in his one start against the Mariners this year. He went for 8.1 innings and didn’t give up any earned runs He has pitched well all year and it has shown in his stats. He is 4-1 with a 2.70 ERA. As for the Mariners they have Jason Vargas on the mound. Vargas has been great this year and also fairly consistent. He had one blow up start, but other than that he has been great. His ERA is at 3.71 and he has a record of 12-7. I think that the Orioles will win 6-3.
GAME 2
When: 7:05
The Starters: Zach Britton vs. Blake Beavan
The Orioles have Zach Britton on the mound for game two of this one. Britton has had one good start in four turns since being activated from the disabled list shortly after the All-Star break. His ERA and WHIP are fat balloons and he has walked more batters than he has struck out. Hopefully he will be able to bounce back or he might be sent down after this start. As for the Mariners, they have Blake Beavan on the mound. Beavan has been not good but not bad either tis year. Although he has a record of 7-6, his ERA is at 5.06. He has pitched well of late, he hasn’t lost a start since June 10th. I think that the Mariners will win 8-2.
GAME 3
When: 7:05
The Starters: Tommy Hunter vs. Kevin Millwood
For the final game of this three game installment, the Orioles have Tommy Hunter on the mound. Hunter has been better in his three starts since he came back up, then he was before he was sent down. his last start, against the Rays, he went 5.2 innings and gave up 2 runs. He has not faced the Mariners yet this year. As for the Mariners, they have Kevin Millwood on the mound. Although Millwood’s record is bad at 4-9, his ERA is still at 4.01, which is pretty good. The Mariners have lost 7 of the last 8 games Millwood has started. He has not faced the Orioles yet this year. I think that the Orioles will win 4-1, and take the series.
