Jason Hammel was dealing tonight against the Atlanta Braves as the only hit he gave up was a liner to left field from Jason Heyward in the bottom of the 7th with 2 outs. While he did give up 2 walks, Hammel had the Braves hitters off-balance all night. It was interesting because for the first 3 2/3 innings Hammel wasn’t even the most dominating pitcher in the game as Braves starter Brandon Beachy had a perfect game before issuing a walk to Chris Davis. Apparently he started feeling right elbow soreness and was taken out right after that at-bat. The O’s definitely caught a lucky break with that injury because he looked pretty unhittable. As for the only hit against Hammel it was legit, a hard liner of the bat of Heyward that left fielder Steve Pearce had no chance of getting to. It was a great performance by Hammel though who mowed down the Braves hitters one by one in route to the Orioles first one hitter since 2006.
