Who: New York Giants vs. New England Patriots
When: 6:30 P.M. ET
Where: RCA Dome, Indianapolis, IN.
Spread: Pats -3
Well the biggest sporting event is upon us and as everybody knows none of our teams are in it and while in reality most of us care little about who is going to win, it is still fun to make some predictions on the game and see who is the closest. So without further ado here are all of the predictions for this year’s Superbowl from our team:
Eddie: I think the Pats are still pissed from the loss in the 2008 Superbowl to the Giants and even though on not a lot of players remain from that game, Tom Brady does and that is really all that matters. I think the Gmen get decent pressure on Brady but both Manning and Brady have decent games. But in the end I think Tom Brady one ups Eli Manning this time and wins his 4th ring in a tightly contested battle. Pats 24-20
Eric: This game is so close that I have flipped many times. The bottom line is that the Patriots do one thing really well (Pass the ball) and the Giants do two things really well (Pass the ball and rush the passer). Gronkowski is less than 100% and I don’t like the idea of Julian Edelman guarding Manningham or Cruz. Tight game and I wouldn’t be surprised with either side winning. Giants 27-24
Jesse: Look for both teams to try to establish the run early in the game. The Giants will because that’s what they do, and the Pats will to slow down the pass rush of what may be the best D-line group ever assembled. The game should start slow and I would expect only about 20, 1st half points, maybe 10-7 or 10-10 at halftime. The 2nd half should be a totally different ballgame with both of these elite QBs airing it out. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see 50+ passes in the 2nd half. In the end both quarterbacks show why they’re elite but Eli is unable to pull off one last 4th quarter comeback. Brady wins ring number four and a third Superbowl MVP award putting up a 280yd/3td/1int stat line. Pats 27-24
Chris: The Giants pass rush will once again be too much for the Patriots offensive line, leading to Tom Brady not getting into a rhythm all game. Still, Giants turnovers will keep the game close until the very end. Needing to drive the entire field in a little under a minute, Tom Brady makes it to the Giants side of the field until a costly false start and a couple missed throws doom the Patriots. That’s right Giants win 24-20 in a thriller with Victor Cruz taking the MVP.
Robbie: This is a rematch of the 2007 Super Bowl in which the Giants ended the Patriots chances at a perfect season. Tom Brady and coach Bill Belichick are known to hold very hard grudges and I have a feeling they will be even more highly motivated than normal for a Super Bowl. So I envision a “F**k You!” performance from the Patriots over the Giants. My prediction is for the Patriots to beat the Giants handily. Tom Brady awarded MVP. Patriots 33 – Giants 17.
